Employed As Caregiver

This participant's Journey to Employment At Cornerstone Connections, we take pride in empowering individuals to overcome challenges and achieve their goals. This is another success story—This participant came to us seeking support and resources for employment. She had recently relocated to Orlando from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in search of a fresh start. Currently living with a family member in Orange County, she felt uncertain about her employment prospects due to her limited educational background and previous work experience in dietary services and home health care. Having also lived in Buffalo, New York, and Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, she held short-term dietary positions but was eager to secure stable employment. She met with Tracy Virgo, a dedicated case manager, to discuss her needs and aspirations. Understanding her desire for employment and professional development, Tracy enrolled her in the Care Connection program and helped her establish realistic career goals.

To support her journey, the case manager:

✅ Created a professional resume

✅ Assisted with job searches and job coaching

✅ Provided job leads and application support.

Despite multiple job applications without success, the participant remained determined. Through Tracy’s guidance, she applied for a caregiver position at Quality Home Care and was offered the role. However, pre-employment requirements needed to be completed before she could start. Tracy assisted her every step of the way by:

✔️ Scheduling a CPR certification class with the American Heart Association, which she successfully completed

✔️ Arranging a physical health check-up with CareSpot

✔️ Providing information for fingerprinting and a Level 3 background check

Additionally, this participant utilized Cornerstone Connections’ clothing closet for interview attire and received assistance in applying for SNAP benefits through a representative from Second Harvest. After months of searching, this participant expressed deep gratitude for the unwavering support she received.

She shared that while she had reached out to other agencies, the professionalism and dedication at Cornerstone Connections made a meaningful difference in her life. Now equipped with the resources and support she needed, this participant is on her way to successful living. We celebrate her perseverance and look forward to seeing her thrive!
